What games (or genres of games) do you hate to play? Why do you hate that game or type of game so much?

For ganres, I'm not too fond of tactical RPGs. Strangely enough, I can't get enough of Advanced Wars. I don't have any particular reason why; they just turn me off. Actually, all ganres do that to me to some extent--it depends on which games are mention. I tend to not like games simply because everyone else does, or perhaps simply because of the name. I've heard of Disgea. But it sounds boring, so I'll never play it. I've heard of Guilty Gear. But because the name doesn't arouse my interest, I'll never play it. I've very well heard of Call of Duty. Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V.

I'd guess I like to explore games on my own, but if that were fully the truth, I never would've played No More Heroes or Halo 3. I'm a very picky and shallow gamer with absolutely no reason for it. In a sense, I like all games, but they have to visually impress me. THe words of other people will, if anything, make me loathe it unless its a friend telling me about it. and if they tell me about it, the name better sound good.

Silver, you should really try and play Disgaea and Guilty Gear. They're both excellent games of their respective genres. D:

As for games I hate. Most racing or sports games, and I generally don't like Real-Time Strategy games. As for specific games; the worst I've ever played is Assassin's Creed: Altair's Chronicles. Horrible game.

Games I dislike are... Sentinel Returns, Unlimited Saga, Final Fantasy VII and Emphermal Fantasia.
Ironically, I also used to have Final Fantasy VIII and Dark Clouds on this list, but I recently retried them and now I like them. blink.gif

Sentinel Returns: I didn't know what to do, I thought the cover art was amazing...but when I got home I didn't know what I was doing or anything.

Unlimited Saga: Beautiful graphics, wonderful music, amazing characters. But WORST BATTLE SYSTEM EVER.
Instead of choosing your options in this turn based combat, it's a roulette wheel. The commands you get to do are at random, you don't get much of a choice.

Final Fantasy VII: I find this game extremely boring, overrated and the graphics were killer on my eyes. Take note I played this years ago, lot's of people think I played it recently and because of today's graphics, it's obviously bad. But no, I played it in like 2003 and hated it.

I can see how a roulette wheel would get annoying when trying to fight. I can't imagine beating a really tough boss with it because I know that there'd be times you'd want to heal and end up attacking instead.

As for my own personal games I hate most sport games. I find them extremely boring. Doesn't really matter which sport it is either. (Though I hate baseball games even more than other sport games.)

Beyond that though I'm willing to at least try most other games. I tried Dynasty Warriors Gundam 3 and found that I like the game despite the fact I don't care much for Gundam the anime series.

I too hate or loath or despise the FF 4, 5 & 7.

I really hate Runescape. I used to play for a long time. However, the click-to-move part of it started to really piss me off. Plus it became all about making money and leveling and it just took the fun out of the game...enough to get me to quit.

I may play again if they change the click-to-move to something more free like WoW. But not until then..

Like most people the sports games are bland for me I really do wish they stop making these ,but no they never do. I think sports games really just have no imagination sure there is strategy ,but its really the same thing and after a year passes I find these games traded away for the next version in the series which what has a new roster and a change in phrases? Thats really about it.

Sure I play a game series that has this problem an example being the Koei Warrior games ,but there is a lot more imagination than hey Madden 2013 crap edition that warrants me to buy the next version. Granted DW6 does not exist to me.

Other games? I am defently not much a puzzle type gamer minus Zelda and Tetris which are good games versus Angry Birds. Yes I dislike Angry Birds sue me. The FPS games varies with me.

Other than that I generally like a lot types of genres so long as it worthwhile to me.

While I don't think they should stop creating sport games entirely... I think they need to rethink their business strategy for them. Especially now given that we have internet and games can be updated well after their initial release.
Maybe instead of a yearly release model they release another sport game every third or fourth year? So they'd release Madden 2012 then not again until 2015. In the mean time they could provide roster updates.

Also they could stagger sport game releases. So like instead of Fifa, Madden, NHL, etc... all coming out in 2012 they could have Madden in 2012, Fifa in 2013 and NHL in 2014.

I mean most sport games that are released year there really isn't a whole lot that changes or needs changing. (At most they tweak a few game modes, maybe remove one and add in another little variant of another.) But the games don't change that much. The graphics don't improve significantly (I mean not like PS2->PS3 or Xbox -> Xbox360 type jumps. Most graphical changes are barely noticeable to most people.)
Heck, if they wanted they could release DLC containing new game modes, new jerseys, new teams, etc... to help keep things fresh in older games. Or even maybe offer a subscription service partnered with that sport league to give extra content like maybe broadcast the games right to the game system or something like that.

Football (Soccer) games are very enjoyable and take a lot of skill and tactical awareness to succeed. Sure, it's annoying EA close their servers each year meaning your forced to buy the new addition but that is your choice, nobody is forcing you!
