But this time it's apparently to state they've actually learned their lesson.

It's true they've vowed to change their business habits and ditch on disc locked content. A shocking move after their sales (by 16%) and profits(by 13%) were both down...

This marks the first time in a while that Capcom and good have been in the same sentence. So then, are they really going to change? Or is this just a front? Will we see them turn around now and show some love for Megaman?

So long as fighting games continue to be more important, I'd say thats big N-O. They will do nothing with megaman. Besides they have a DMC game to make and probably a japan exclusive Project X Zone. Nope I see nothing good about anything related to capcom anymore except RE6 and of course Project X Zone still look neat to me. As for the DLC thing I need to see it to believe it as in the next hacker must hack the next game of theirs and check for this hidden disk content intill then capcom is getting not a cent of my non existant money account. As much as I hate hackers this is the one time I consider it okay because I think I am getting tired of this endless backlash. Words and an article means diddly to me. They can say all they want and bam thats when they trick us again. And besides the more their profit margins drop I think thats when they will cave as much as I hate to say that because of the workers there in the many branches. I just want to see the Top Men squirm before they think they can weasel themselves out of this mess they've made.

Glad thats off my chest I feel a ton better about my gaming life. Drifter is not a vengeful person just a passionent fellow who needs to let a few words or a couple paragraphs to get out this feeling that this is a trap...

Impassioned arguments and strongly worded complaints would never give Capcom pause, we've known from the start that hitting their wallets would be the only way to get their attention.

And to talk about cannibalism, complaining that there are too many fighting games on the market to make Street Fighter x Tekken competitive? I'm sorry, but I think it has more to do with repackaging and rereleasing all of your games a couple months after they ship, no one is going to buy your newest version of street fighter if they know that a newer, shinier version will be coming out soon with a larger roster of characters. I can't believe they don't see anything wrong with that.

I'm glad that their profits are down but I am far from satisfied.

Exactly, don't you love that excuse of theirs Jet? It made me laugh oh so much because the reality is so long as they continue their buisness habits its only gonna get worse as for other games with in the genre I think they are doing better because. The other companies don't do what Capcom does. They simply update their stuff within the next installment what does capcom do? Oh update the same game just we have to buy another damn disk thats basically the same game ,but with a few addditions and changes with in the roster. And besides with that excuse of theirs just proves to me that they won't change because they can't seem to figure out that their supreme buisness plan of theirs is faulty and outdated. Those wallets of theirs are dropping and it will continue so long as they continue to do this buisness practice and continue to anger their customers on a day to day basis.

I hope their profits keep going down, every last game company must know they can not screw with us like this.

The ultimate problem I have with the plan of making Capcom pay even further is that ultimately the ones who really need to learn the lesson won't be the ones who will. Nor will they be the ones who pay the price for their hubris. The ones who are really going to pay? The game development studios Capcom owns. They'll slash projects rather than fire those "top-tier managers" that keep greenlighting terrible ideas like making the on disc locked content or carving up a game into two parts so they can cash in.

Most of the time it isn't the game developer's fault things turned out the way they did. It's the top managers who intervened and basically told the developers to "make the game this way or you're fired" essentially.

Though regarding SFxT, aside from the consumer fearing imminent rehash of it, part of the problem why it didn't do so well is because people started hearing about these on disc characters which lead to some outrage. The Better Business Bureau getting involved and other lovely stuff like that. Though Jet, what more would you like to see befall them?

Do I think Capcom has changed? Not yet because they're still offering a 1300$ RE6 bundle. And that's the sort of money grubbing that has to go away for real change to begin.

Though I also feel that all game companies are starting to feel a financial crunch now. I had heard that the gaming industry's profits were all down. Prototype 2 (the highest selling game of April 2012) only compared to last year's 6th best selling game... (which if memory serves) was Crysis 2 (which moved less than 250,000 units).

Perhaps the gaming industry is about to hit it's own limit now like the music industry with CD sales? (It could, you know, just be a sign that we're still in a recession and money is tight. Or perhaps that customers don't feel this round of games were worth paying full price for. Perhaps this is the start of yet another movement to get companies to give the consumer a fair deal. Either raise the quality of the games to justify 60$+ or lower the costs of games. )

As I've said on other forums, those who have been playing video games are now moving in to make them. hopefully in time they will take full control of these companies and sensible decisions can start happening.
