I noticed there's no Devil May Cry topic, so I decided to make one. I started playing DmC 3 recently and I watched all the cutscenes for DmC 3 and 4 recently because I wasn't sure I'd ever get to play any of them anytime soon.
Also, does anyone here actually LIKE the DmC Devil May Cry from Ninja Theory? You know, the one where Dante is a chain smoking sadistic jackass with fanfic powers that looks plain ridiculous because apparently that's cool to Capcom now?

At first it was a reboot and then they swapped to an alternate universe to try and appease fans. I don't care for DmC Dante, even if they make it a alternate universe. Even if the gameplay is halfway decent, the story and the writing will be horribile beyond comprehension.
I'm actually on mission 3 of DMC3 at the moment, I'm sort of doing Easy Mode because I kept dying on Mission 2, but it's not like I have any problems with that, since I know Normal Mode is actually Japan's Hard Mode.
Oh, and VZ, if you haven't already watched the Devil May Cry 4 cutscenes, you should. Dante's are hilarious.

| QUOTE (VirusZero @ Nov 10 2011, 10:38 AM) | Are you playing DMC3 or the special edition? Because the Special Edition allows you to play the whole game as Vergil. But it also fixes the difficulty modes.
Though I can say one thing... Final boss in DMC3 on Hard mode can take a very long time. (It took me over 45 minutes of pure fighting and a half dozen vital stars to put the end boss down. The end boss likes to block, regenerate health and spam area of effect attacks.) Even on normal or easy you'll want to have a few vital stars just in case...
I've beat DMC4 quite some time ago (back on 2008 when the game was released) it was one of the reasons I got a PS3. Some of the lines he says are quite funny... "Check it out, it's got wings." That one always cracks me up. |
It's regular DMC3, I know the Special Edition has Vergil and I hear it's a lot harder with him due to it just being him going through Dante designed stages. I may end up trying it someday, but for now, I definitely don't plan to.
Dante's hamming session with Agnus was my favorite part, Reuben Langdon had way too much fun with that scene.

Rise from your grave!
Capcom's re-releasing the first three DMC games as a HD Collection for the 360 and PS3, and yes, Devil May Cry 3 is the Special Edition. I'll probably get it at some point, since I want DMC 1 and 2. Yes, I know that people hate DMC 2, but I do want to try it for myself, plus it's Badass Dante.

New revival! New DmC Devil May Cry trailer. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DBd86emJWkcSo now he's a chain smoking dark and mysterious rebel against authority. So a generic shonen anti-hero. Yeah, I'm definitely not getting this one, new Dante is boring as shit.

I think the goal with 2 was to supposed to be more serious after it all it is the end of the series and that point agreeably dante was way out of character ,but it could have ment he matured quite a bit. Still number 2 wasn't bad it was like Virus Said the odd one of the series. My favorite ones will always be 1 and 3 mainly for the dante attittude and the electric based weapons always put a smile on my face. Rocking out with the Nevan or Slashing with Alastor. 4 was defently fun too and Nero did well and I never complained on him or the game like most supposed hardcore DMC fans. Nah kidding on the hardcore ,but you get what I mean. As for alt dante I leave it to you guys to play and tell me about it because Capcom on certain series for me is dead you all know that end of story yadda yadda. I'll bet it will play well and all ,but obviously with all the criticism it recieved before even entering the starting gate already means to me I will not hear the end of it if I play it or not at all. As for the HD collection I already have 1-3 when they first came out so I hope to see some good videos to give me the feel of enjoying the graphics which is something I never really cared about anyways. So make it count for old Drifter. Anyways glad you brought up this topic really the best place for me to nerd out on my DMC moments.

I still have no plans to play it, new Dante doesn't interest me at all and I refuse to play through a game where the sole protagonist isn't interesting or is annoying.

I've never played it, but I have been interested in it since I overheard a woman yelling to her child on a cell phone, while in a doctors office when she told them to "Stop playing that Devil May Cry Crap". This was a few years ago, but since then... I have been interested in the game cause I went home that day and looked up stuff about it.

Yeah its guite the PS2 series for its day well it started in that generation and we only had had 1 new one which was like the beginning of the next generation. These games are very fun and addicting they can alse be tough the fist time through to. Trust me the first one especailly on normal was no cake walk.

You know something, this is one of those series that i have always wanted to play but never got round to it. I love the fact that the original Resident Evil 4 game ended up getting made into Devil May Cry. I hear the second one isn't great but i'd still like to give the series a go. Which game would recommend for a beginner?

For a beginner? Well All games are actually fairly hard if you do not know what you are doing at first ,but I think either number 2 or number 4 are the easiest in the series the first is pretty tough when you are starting out and the third one is also pretty tough because you do not get devil trigger till later which with enough practice its possible to play just tricky. In 1 and 3 after you die enough times the game will give you the options to play on easy auto mode which in 1 just switches the game and gives you most of the health ups and all skills can be executed with a simple button and auto fire meaning you can hold the fire button done. In later games you can start on the easiest setting minus 3 because its like 1 ,but when you do game plus you could select the stage and difficulty at will giving you enough time to build up for the harder difficulties. Hope that helps a little if you have PS3 or Xbox360 get the HD collection which has all three of the PS2 games 1,2 and 3 special edition. Get your fill of the awesome! Be stylish!

The story alright the order of the games go.
DMC 3 DMC 1 The anime if you consider it in the timeline or its own canon entirely. DMC 4 DMC 2
The other game which is just called DMC is its own universe the first fours games and anime are ther original universe and thats the one series of DMC that should matter.
Yeah I know funny this is the order of the games by story. If story is your thing the story is pretty well done and each games does do its best to make it that way even though its stylish gameplay. XD
Anyways yes the story ,but the newest DMC is all in the same timeline and threading.

Well considering the Zelda Storyline this is not as much of a mess at least its numbered and you can tell where things start and end.
