Would you try this ultimate Warfare simulator if given the chance? Why or why not?

Okay this just looks cool. I'd most definitely have to give it a try, can't say if I'd use it consistently but this is the sort of thing that I'd love to be the future of gaming. It'd get fat people to move around, it'd give players the immersion that we enjoy, the only drawback is that you'd currently need a giant room designed for it. That and experiencing physical pain. But anyone who has ever played paintball knows that they don't hurt that much. Those looked like powerful guns and they were relatively close to the guy but you could tone those down as well as play in heavy padding. Or only play with other people using the feature so other players aren't abusing it and just camping or otherwise annihilating you.

But yeah, I'd have to take it for a spin if given the chance, it looks amazing.

I am used to pain I just don't think I would be cut out for anykind of sim since my body isn't exactl what one would call at peek performance. I'd load up a megaman game and tell me how much of workout you would get.

I don't think that rig is configured for that type of game... Though that would be sort of interesting if they could make it work for Megaman. (Precision jumping though might be hard though.)

But admittedly I'd probably give that simulator a shot. If nothing else for the fact then that I could say I've done it. I don't know if I could see that for the future of all gaming... I mean like you mentioned Jet, it's large, cost prohibitive and likely there are a ton of bugs, calibrations and maintenance that would be required to keep that going. So it would probably be best for something at an arcade or special event.

Sure with time things would get better (cost would decrease for certain) but the size is still fairly prohibitive unless you happen to have a huge outdoors or a spare baby barn or garage-bay to use.

From the look at it though it does seem to be the next logical step from current motion controls. So while not the ultimate future of all gaming, it is most certainly where motion gaming is headed. So perhaps we could see advances in next generation motion tech based off this. (EX- Lighting sets for additional immersion that could be tied to consoles/PCs. )

Regarding the pain aspect though, having the option to dial it down would be nice. The heavy padding would probably only hamper a player more than anything... additional weight added to moving around and all. Since that looks to be a fairly intensive gaming-workout.

I would definitely not want to take that online... I'd end up so freaking sore after having been shot so many times. Some of those online players are just outstandingly amazing. Others are just extremely cheap.

What I mean by the future of gaming is just that in the past couple of years we've really been focused on motion sensing controllers. And while the wii-mote, the kinect and indeed this rig are flawed and have issues to fix eventually we will get there. And we'll get better at sensing the movments of the player, not simply tracking the remote.

Its something I'd be really excited to do. I love paintball, lazer tag and all that stuff but the problem is you often need more people than are around and they require you to travel somewhere, sometimes pretty far. If I could explore an arena from the comfort of my home, but still frag my friends living across the country.. That'd just be great. I think one day we'll get there. Although as you said, these controls would not work with all games, I'm not suggesting all games would have to be converted to this system by any means.
