So two of my friends and I are considering pooling some money and buying recording equipment for youtube videos. I mentioned this in another thread, but we've got several ideas for different channels and one of them is gaming. I'm trying to do a little bit of research because I know nothing about cameras, but I understand that some of them don't record stuff on monitors and TV screens very well, but there are some that can. We'd like to be able to record content played on consoles and PCs, and I was wondering if any of you have suggestions. I also know that you can buy cables connect your console to the PC and just record everything that way, is that the way to go?

I appreciate any input, thanks guys.

http://massively.joystiq.com/2013/02/27/ea...-console-games/

Due in part to the relative success of Dead Space 3's cash shop, EA has decided that microtransactions are the way of the future and will not be creating console and PC games while focusing on that idea. Both for cosmetic items, as well as weapons and powers that give players an advantage or at least will make the game easier.

I don't think there's much more to say here, we all feel the same hate toward disc locked stuff and items you need to pay additional money for. Imo the only way this is ever okay is if the game itself is free and the microtransactions are how they make their money. But this is just greedy, and they're moving forward with it because they think gamers will sit by and accept it.

What do you all think? Will enough people continue to buy EA's games and buy things from their micro-shops? Or will gamers boycott new measures and attempt to discourage such practices? Personally I don't like EA and this just drags them deeper into the muck, I'm actually not sure whether I hate them or Capcom more these days. I'm not going to buy extra crap from their in game shops, and if what they're selling is necessary to play the game then I won't be buying the game. I'm sick of companies trying to nickle and dime us, and its time they understood that.

As most of you probably know, creating popular Youtube content can earn you a significant chunk of money. The amount of money each person earns can vary widely, based on how much advertisers will want to plug their product on a given channel, how many people they think will see it, but in general the average youtuber earns $1-$3 per 1000 views. The owners of the more popular channels can make their entire living by posting videos on youtube, enough money to pay all of their bills, to pay for an expensive home, nice clothing and food and entertainment. Not all youtubers are this successful, but still produce enough content to earn them a nice supplement to whatever they earn at their day jobs.

I bring this up because a friend of mine has recently begun thinking about creating videos for youtube, most likely about gaming where he would film himself playing games, talking about new releases and gaming news in podcasts, and attempting to complete challenges that most people haven't tried before. And he'd like me to join him in this crazy venture. I am taking an attitude of wary skepticism, even though there are a significant number of youtube channels where all they do is play through games or video tape themselves in matchmaking, or comment on professional level games. I'm subscribed to many such channels myself so I know that it can work, I'm just skeptical that we could make it work seeing as youtube is saturated with these types of channels and we'd need something to set us apart. I'm not crazy enough to believe that youtube could pay all of my bills, but if it could net me any amount of supplemental income I've decided the idea could be worth exploring further.

What do you guys think about earning money through youtube? What sorts of things do you think contribute to making a channel successful or help to garner more views? What types of channels are you more apt to view/subscribe to?

Apparently this is a real thing. For free. Now if you are thinking Capcom + free makes no sense whatsoever, that's because a fan made most of it and Capcom slapped their name on it. But all the same it looks like a decent game... What do you guys think about this? How would you feel if this were all we got for Megaman's 25th anniversary?

Here's my take on it. It looks good, I'll be excited to play it - but its lazy. They put no work into it, just agreed to publish what a fan made. I'll say that any attention is better than letting the series die, but this isn't good enough. Especially when you look at how Capcom celebrated Street Fighter's anniversary. If this is the beginning, and Capcom is just using it to kick off a year of Megaman then its great, but if this is the surprise they've been withholding, if this is all we're getting... well its pathetic.

I cannot understand why Capcom is so wrapped up in Street Fighter and Resident Evil. The last couple Street Fighters have been underwhelming, imo, and the last two Resident Evils were terrible. Now I can understand holding onto those liscenses because of their powerful history - but its like those are the only games that Capcom makes nowadays. And then they'll remake those games and try to make more money, they aren't the only cash cows Capcom has. Honestly, I wish Street Fighter wasn't even in this Megaman game, but I suppose that's the only reason Capcom agreed to let it see the light of day. I'm just... really???

Physical Appearance During Hypermode

Name : Siege Armor
Height: 6'3
Weight: 275
Skin Color: White
Eye Color: Brown
Hair Style: Same as before

Armor description: In general Sub's armor is heavier, and he carries additional weaponry. He is less maneuverable however, and therefore, less likely to engage in melee combat.

Hypermode ultimate move: Guided lazer - Sub can call down an enormous lazer blast from his personal orbiting satellite. Doing so however, is probably illegal and Sub tries not to use it for fear of attracting attention. The blast is incredibly powerful, as well as pinpoint accurate due to his helmet's targeting feature, but requires some time to recharge between use.

Miscellaneous

Weaknesses: Distrustful
Items & Weapons: Katana, pistols, assault rifle, light machine guns, variety of grenades, smoke bombs, poison gas, lazer beam, satellite based lazer guided lazer cannon... Sub has access to an immense stockpile of weapons, and the only ones he never seems to use are heavy machine guns, sniper rifles and conventional buster weapons.
Vehicles: Quite a few.
Theme song: Loyal to No-One http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lbsIiyMhVxU
Personality: Mistrustful of strangers and authority figures, but a loyal friend and an inspiring leader to those within his circle of trust. Sub tries to help the helpless, particularly those ignored by the Maverick Hunters, and fights the mavericks where he can. Sub takes orders from no man, playing by no rules save his own. True to his name, Sub likes to lie 'under the surface' gathering vital intelligence from disreputable sources, recruiting a band of the most unlikely allies, and bringing deadly surprises to anyone foolish enough to underestimate his battle prowess.
Back Story: Submarine was finished shortly before the death of Dr. Prowers, and therefore has little recollection of his creator. He was programmed to be an outsider, to staunchly oppose corruption, to do the work that the hunters could not, and most importantly, be the reploid that the people needed him to be. Sub initially regarded only Tank and his third, unfinished brother Jet, as true friends, and would not allow himself to get close to anyone, least of all the Maverick Hunters, whom Sub got off on the wrong foot with almost immediately and was very nearly declared a maverick because of his insubordination. Tank has since been able to repair the damage, but Sub is still resistant to the idea that Jet be completed by the maverick hunters, feeling protective of his unfinished sibling. Sub has recently begun recruiting like minded individuals to join up with his mercenary group, in effort to bring the maverick threat under control for good.
